Observation Stage

Event

In my second day at school, a Wednesday I remember. I realized that one of the eight students of 6th grade didn’t talk too much. And I payed attention of his behavior and he neither talked with his classmates. The case was Vittorio. I got closer to the teacher to asked her about Vittorio, and she told me that he has Asperberg Syndrom. I didn’t know what was that but I knew he was different from the other students. Miss Beatriz told me that he had had a big improvement since he enter to the school last year.

Reflection

I was very shocked about Vittorio behavior because I had seen cases of “deficit atencional”, hyperactivity, etc. But never something like this.
I think it is very important for us, as teachers to get in touch with this kind of situations, because you learn how to behave and act with special people, and not seeing them in a bad way, or like a burden.
It is very familiar for me to feel a proximity with this students, I always remember “Rafa”, he is a boy from my first practice school on 2006. I felt so inspired to be close to him, and we made a nice relationship, everytime we met at the street he say hi to me.
With Vittorio it is the same, it is like a challenge for me to be able to encourage the kid to do his best.
I think that is part of our job, to be capable of getting the best of our students and encourage them to do their best in every single aspect of life.
